This project has been approached regarding two different important aspects. Firstly, making compatible the different uses required by the Disa corporation, which involved using consistent typologies of block and tower. Secondly, the necessary relation between the constructed volume and the new projected area had to be defined. Starting with the volumetry given by the ordinance and by means of modeling, the new resultant volume is sculpted. A hybrid continuous piece is achieved, neither adopting the shape of just a block nor just a tower, but both at the same time. A transition between the horizontal and vertical volumes is created, progressively growing. Its volume falling back while going up generates a central empty space, dedicated to the commercial forum with its trees as the continuation of the outer plaza in the interior of the building. The great carved concrete volume is presented as a great stone above the plaza, weightless and expectant over the city. Its scratched and truncated corners and edges enhance the tectonic appearance of the body. In contrast to the striped concrete surfaces, the vertical colored lines that appear on the tower pay reference to the company´s corporate identity (green, yellow and blue) and generate a changing image of the building depending on the observer’s point of view. The plaza and the building are meant to be as one, interrelating through its different levels and establishing a mutual embracement. Continuous surfaces establish a hybrid space in which different actions and paths are developing and alternating and where the open public space is the protagonist of the project, being the receiver of variable activities.
