La Higuera park is located in part of La Higuera ravine, in a convicted portion of land between two road infrastructures, the old road and the new Pine street that borders Tabaiba Alta neighbourhood in the upper part. The project is located in a wedge-shaped valley-floor of 7000 m² and comes with the intention of giving sense to this natural area and return it to its natural landscape condition. The proposal is strongly influenced by topography. This decisive factor led to a solution based on a system of plant banks arranged concentrically, embracing a central space that is thought to be a square of outdoors public entertainment. These banks are contained by wall-banks with a curvilinear path that define the various paths and generate the image of the new park. For this purpose, a plastic consistency material such as concrete combined with the local stone has been used. This creates this landscape of chiaroscuro walls that simulate the play of shadows that appears on the windbreak walls existing in the orchards that rise on the hill of the ravine. There are two routes, one perimeter linked to sport activity that develops taking advantage of the old road, and another related to the ride course that develops in concentric paths which adapt to the existing topography. Vegetation of different character is proposed, on the one hand the idea is conserving the existing native vegetation and promote it to increase the number of tabaibas, cactus, fig trees, almond trees and medlar trees. On the other hand there is a need to create shade inside the park, and therefore it raises a palm grove around the playground and bearing trees of different areas on the slopes around the central polyvalent space. The floor becomes a colourful carpet by planting various ground cover species which, combined with the shade of the tree flowers in spring, give the park its own character.
