The parcel of the project is located in a residential area in which residential housing of low density predominates, and in which the repetition of a building type sets the urban environment.
There are three natural features in the area that shape the entire proposal: the steep topography, that makes there are height differences between the upper and lower street of about 13 meters; the constant presence of the sea, which suggests contemplative spaces linked to intervention; and orientation and prevailing winds, since the area has on the one side a potential for sunlight and on the other a fairly windy area.
The general use required in the program needs is a Social Service Center for Seniors that also works as a Day Centre. Both the required use and landscaping conditions of the area require the creation of a controlled space in which the different uses will be turned and where the different social relations among users will happen. Therefore, the project is built from this premise.
A ground plan for the recreation of the complex, located at an intermediate level between the upper street and the street below, from which the entire procedure it will be shaped .
A ground plane that is cut and bended to fit the existing topography, and which begins to fold in order to define the various pavilions that will house the different uses, which will form spatially a common space in which outdoor activities will be developed and where the pavilions frame the landscape which, at the same time, frames various portions of the sea.
All action takes place between the upper street and the street below, barely surpassing the first one, so that it is integrated into the existing topography and protected from prevailing winds. The large volume reserved for the residence is embedded in the natural slope while front volumes reserved for leisure activities take the scale of the surrounding buildings
